Adventures in Cake Pops!

I have found my new obsession- CAKE POPS! Who knew those tiny bite-sized cakes covered in candy could be so much fun and delicious? After searching on Pinterest and blogs, I think i have perfected the best way to make simple cake pops. I have outlined it below:

  1. Make pops. I used a cake pop maker my husband got for christmas. It looks like a waffle maker, and can be purchased at your favorite big box retailer.
  2. Melt candy. I used Wilton’s Candy Melts I bought at Wal-Mart. They melt down really nice and give that shiny smooth coating.
  3. Dip stick. VERY important, it keeps the pop on the stick.
  4. Stick in stick. Almost to the top of the pop.
  5. Dip pop. Emerce it completely and tap on the side while rotating to make any extra drip off.
  6. Sprinkle pop. Decorate with nonperils or your choice of cake decoration. Do this before the candy dries, or they won’t stick.
  7. Stand pop. You can buy a Wilton Cake Pop stand at Wal-Mart, but I just punched holes in a cardboard box lid for mine.

That’s it! I would consider myself an amateur cake popper, but I think I did pretty good. Share your adventures in cake popping below!

Podcast Recommendation

January 8th, 2012 @ 10:02 am by erica

Kristin has the red tank and yellow capris and Erin has the white tank and green skirt on.

For years now, I have been listening to a Podcast called Manic Mommies. It’s two friends that sit down in front of microphones and their computers once a week and chat about what is going on in their lives. Occasionally they also have a guest on to talk about issues or products that Moms (and sometimes dad’s too) are interested in.

Once a year, they will get together with their listeners that can attend, and any friends drug along on this thing called the Manic Mommies Escape. “The Escape” for short. I was privileged enough to be able to go in 2008. I haven’t been able to attend since, due to being in a “motherly” way the past two years, and the year previously just didn’t have the dough.

I encourage anyone who is looking for inspiration to keep on going one more day without strangling your children to check out their podcast at http://www.manicmommies.com/ and even read their blog. They are a couple of funny broads.
